Vlisco is an Hollandaise Textile company/ Boutique that creates incredible African wax textiles and couture dresses.

Growing up in a Nigerian household, I am very familiar with these fabrics and even own a few traditional dresses, (my mother owns more than a few!) But the styles Im familiar with are much simpler.  Seeing them transformed into something so beautiful and high fashion makes me feel incredibly proud.  I couldn’t imagine a better introduction of African textiles/fashion to the rest of the world.


Intimacy 2.0: Interactive Fashion That Responds To Body Heat

The Dutch strike again!

Dutch Studio Roosegaarde and fashion designer Anouk Wipprecht have joined forces to create an absolutely stunning piece of lingerie. Intimacy 2.0 is an experimental, yet wearable dress constructed of “smart e-foils that become increasingly transparent based on close and personal encounters with people.” So the transparency of the dress is determined by factors that are directly correlated to arousal level.

Flylight Interactive Light Display

I dont know what is circulating in their arctic air, but time and again, Holland  seems to be producing some of the most inspiring design work around! See Flyflight, by Dutch Design Studio, Studio Drift. The motion censored light show, which is set off and determined by motion of the user,  mimics flight paths of migrating birds.
